After going through a miscarriage and later having an infant in the NICU, I was constantly having this scripture put upon my heart: "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29.11. This verse has gotten me through some very tough times, and would be exactly what I put on your beautiful bracelet!

I'm not sure what I would put, but this is one of my favorite friend quotes. It encourages me when I'm feeling blue to remember this.

oh, i love this idea, having a special quote close to you at all times, love it!!
here's what i would choose:

I love this entire talk that was given and this quote reminds me that I have an eternal partnership with God.

Love it! I would put one of two quotes:
"How you climb the mountain is just as important as how you get down the mountain. In the end it all comes down to one word--grace. It's how you accept winning and losing, good luck and bad luck, the darkness and the light."

If that's too long then I would put: "Peace. it does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart."

I would want this quote:
"There is in every true woman's heart a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity; but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity." Washington Irving

But it is obviously too long. :(

So perhaps instead I would choose Hebrews 11:1 "Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen."

Or maybe random words from my kids: hawk-o-hopter, hiddle, finding-my-glass

I love this bracelet. Win or lose I may have to purchase one for myself.

My saying of choice is one my mom held dear to her heart as I am adopted. She lovingly cross-stitched it on a pillow for me shortly before she passed away in 1999 at 48 years old. Recently I found the pillow in my 2 year olds room where it now sports new handmade permanent scribbles...

Anyway -- my saying would be (if it fit):

Not flesh of my flesh, Nor bone of my bone,
But still miraculously my own.
Never forget for a single minute,
You didn't grow under my heart - but in it

course of love, for love, if it
finds you worthy directs your course.

Or something like that - b/c I don't think that would fit.

Chrystyna said...

What a great bracelet! I actually love what you have written on the example! I have never heard that before, but man is it true!! I would probably go with that or this:

You are the light to my soul.
You are my purpose...you're everything.

"Real isn't how you are made. Love makes you real. It doesn't happen all at once. Once you are real, it lasts for always.
-The Velveteen Rabbit

We used quote from The Velveteen Rabbit in our wedding vows. This is a shortened version here but I think it would fit nicely on the bracelet. It goes on to say that "by the time you are real most of your hair has been loved off and your eyes droop, you get loose in the joints & very shabby. But these things don't matter at all because once you are real you can't be ugly." Through injury & illness, life and loss I sometimes feel pretty shabby & loose in the joints but my husband makes me feel very real, and very LOVED. I would love to wear this expression to remind me of just how real i am to him.

Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get — only what you are expecting to give — which is everything. What you will receive in return varies. But it really has no connection with what you give. You give because you love and cannot help giving.

and my other absolute favorite that i go back to time and time again is:

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right. Forget about the one's who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. "Faith is not a delicate flower which would wither away under the slightest stormy weather.
-- Mahatma Gandhiy"
This quote is very close to my heart, when I was in high school my older brother was in a motercycle accident in which a horse trailor pulled out infront of him. He was in a drug enduced coma for about a month and a half and in ICU for about 2. We found out that he had severed his spine and would no longer be able to walk again. It was devistating to my family and our lives changed completely right there and then. We began worrying about so many things; how will he get into the house? will his chair be able to fit through doors? what kind of car will be buy to accomidate? will he ever be able to have children? How are we going to tell him when he wakes up? All of these times a million haunted us until one night we were walking to our vehicle from the hospital and there was a piece of paper stuck in the door sticking out. It had this quote on it. and then under it said the words "have faith." we all began to cry because throught this we had almost lost it. and we realized that we still have eachother and thats what really mattered. Im not sure who put this in the door but it helped put a little light into our hearts. and believe again.

OK...first, sorry for the long post, but I thought it might help plead my case for why I NEED this bracelet. :)

All I can say is that I've been searching everywhere for the perfect gift for a very special person and this would be BEYOND perfect. Just after the holidays my aunt was diagnosed with lung cancer and was not doing well at all. Our entire family was beyond scared and insisted that she get the best care possible. Unfortunately, this meant living half way across the country for many months just to get her first round of tests and treatments. As if being away from her husband (who was back home working to pay the ever-growing stack of medical & travelling bills) during this time wasn't hard enough, she had to reassure her little six year old daughter that she would be home as soon as she could. Getting through the sickness and pain each and every day seemed nearly impossible and yet this woman somehow managed to gather enough strength and courage through it all to do everything in her power to keep her promise to her baby girl that Mommy was not going to die. Watching someone go through this is an unbelievably life altering experience in itself, but watching a little girl make cards for her Mommy wishing for the cancer to "go away" is something that none of us should ever have to experience. OK...now that I'm crying again, I'll get to the point...
To help this family through this life-altering journey, many, many people have pulled together to host a benefit in this woman's honor so that her family can focus on helping her through this journey rather than on the ever-growing stack of bills. This bracelet would be, as I said before, BEYOND perfect to give to her at her benefit to remind her how much she is truly loved & supported and to encourage her to NEVER give up hope.
As for the quote, I've been struggling to pick the perfect words, I'd have to think about it a bit more, but something on the line of:

filled with hope
surrounded by love
blessed by God

. . . always in our hearts

You have NO idea how much this bracelet would mean to my aunt to have to remind her each & every day that she is not alone on this journey, even when many miles from her loved ones, and to NEVER give up hope. :)

btw...if you did choose us, we could also distribute your business cards at her benefit too :)

Thanks for considering us!!! :)

Hi. This is my favorite quote:
"I'm happy to be alive, I'm happy to be who I am." - Michael Jackson.

I'm not sure who said this, but I love it!

"To truly love someone is to empower them with the ability to destroy you, while simultaneously entrusting that they would never do so"

I would love to have the Special Olympics Athletes Oath in honor of my son, a Special Olympian for 23 years and going. He is competing in his first Unified triathalon on Sept. 11, 2010
