tgif & spring break! (a giveaway!)

Spring break has officially begun! We kicked it off by sleeping in this morning :) It was so needed after a long week!

Trips to the park and lots of board games are on our agenda this week :)

We are also heading here and here tomorrow for a few days...I'm turning off my phone and having some much needed away time with my family :)

While I'm gone, let's giveaway a $50 gift certificate or 2 to our website!

Just for fun :)

Tell us something FUN you're going to do on Spring Break and you're entered! I'll hand pick one winner (for the most cReAtIvE spring break fun!) and randomly pick the other!

Blog it and tweet it (@thevintagepearl) for extra entries!

Both winners will be announced as soon as we get back from visiting Shamu :)

My fun on Spring break will consist of going to the San Francisco flower market to make notes for wedding flowers that I am doing. My daughter's ballet teacher is getting married and as her gift I am doing the flowers for her wedding. The bride to be, her mother, sister, my girlies, and I will all drive to 'the city' (as we call it) and look at all the beautiful flowers!

We are going to having a fun filled week also! With a trip to the zoo, picnic at the park (and feeding the prairie dogs), board games, movie nights, bike riding and I have my fingers crossed for lots of sleeping in! And my youngest sons birthday is the 19th and we are going to be having a Transfomer party at a local place that has putt-putt and go carts! Its going to be a super fun week for us! Have fun on your spring break:)

well...we don't have any extra funds this year since my husband is still unemployed, but we have been trying to come up with something fun to do anyway. we can't go far from home because our oldest daughter is just beginning training for her 8th grade track season and needs to be close for practices. but...i have been entertaining the idea of having a 'vacation' close to home. just staying in a hotel for the night to swim and eat breakfast in bed and have fun together!

We've just moved so we're unpacking boxes over Spring Break. I don't know if you can call that fun, but it has to be done.

My dear 5 year old grand daughter lives with me and on her Spring break (from kindergarten) wants to go Indianapolis and spend a few days with her Uncle (who recently moved there). So - we are packing a bag and heading to Indy the week of March 22. Nothing fancy over this way

Well, I'm sure that my entry won't win the most cReAtIvE...but here it is....since my hubby is deployed to Afghan...I will be heading up from NC, to VA with my four chickens in tow, to spend some time with my parents. I know that might sound boring, but I'm really looking forward to it. One of my favorite things, is to watch my parents with my kids. It just warms my heart:)

Have a great spring break! You deserve it!!!!

I'm blogging your giveaway right now, so hook me up for another entry!

I'm hoping that my parents come to visit during Spring Break and keep the kids for a couple of days so that my husband who is in the Marine Corps can get away for a couple of days - maybe to either the Outer Banks or up to Annapolis.

Well something fun for Spring Break? Sad, but true, we don't have something like that in Germany.
I assume and guess you are all doing something super fun during that time? Ok, coming back ... no fun for me .. have to write my thesis .. (sorry or all the rambling...)

Anyway, I'D LOVE to win, really love - I adore your jewelry!

Cheers! and happy Spring Break!

My daughter, who is 14 months old was born with a right shorten femur and a hip displacia. She just learned to sit up on her own and is finally learning to stand with the help of my hands. This spring break, I am going to enjoy the beautiful Arizona weather and take her outside to learn how to walk at a local park. I know to many, this may not sound exciting but with a disability combined with a little baby girl, it's a beautiful thing.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Spring Break.

I'm going to Nashville, Tennessee to hang out with one of my friends! He goes to Vanderbilt and he's going to take me around and introduce me to all his friends and we'll party and have a good time. :D I'm super excited.

One of my other friends also wanted to teach me to drive... stick... in his car.. which is a replica of the Ariel Atom. If you haven't heard of that (I definitely hadn't) it's a car that goes 0-60 in a ridiculously fast time. Haha. He built a replica of it in his senior year of high school. He thinks it's a crime that I don't have a drivers license yet, so he wanted to teach me to drive. bad bad bad idea.

We don't have definite plans next week but I've got loads I'm hoping to do with my three littles: they really want to go to lakehouse (at the Ozarks) especially because last year a leprechaun visited on St. Patty's Day and we're so going to try to catch him this year! We're also going to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid in the theatres on Friday! Mostly, I can't wait for life to just slow down so we can all just hang together, cuddle, and play games. It's amazing how much I love the simple things!
Best,

With the onset of spring and two kids who are not yet in school, every day is spring break!! We use the spring shower days to stay inside and peek at the seedlings we have sprouting. Sunny days find us outside running around and eating dirt (well, the kids do that!). Mama tries to get in as much knitting as possible, and daddy works hard to make it possible for her to stay home and run this organized chaos. If daddy has any free time on the weekends he does get in a little fishing time!

my children aren't old enough to actually enjoy spring break BUT next week will be my first official week part time so I will be home more with my babies. I am hoping to cram in lots of outdoor play in between visits to the Children's clinic. Remember I said this will be my first week part time. I have never had to take both of my children to the dr at the same time. SO...tuesday afternoon at 1:30 (yes that is smack in the middle of our usual naptime) i will be taking my 2 year old and 10 month old to the clinic. OH the fun. Just taking one of them tends to be a nightmare so I can hardly wait to see how this turns out. IT SHOULD BE A BLAST!!

I am jealous of your getaway but super happy your all going to be together enjoying some much needed R&R and family time! My family had an early spring break last week. It was SOOOOOO wonderful I can't even tell you how nice it was to sleep in a couple of days and one morning I took my daughter who is 4 to have a mommy and daughter day. We went to the spa and got manicures and pedicures. It was so cute, my lil' princess loves the spa days. One other morning on our last day we slept in and I drove her and I to a little mom and pop family restaurant, it was so much fun! She commented on her first day back to school how much she enjoyed our "private time" as she calls it. We wished daddy could have joined us but we got to snuggle him at night and make him wonderful dinners when he arrived home! Have a nice trip.

We are going to the zoo to roar at the lions (my toddler is obsessed with roaring, at the baby. We're hoping this is more productive), lick at the giraffes (they have blue tongues!) and discover how similar ocelots are to jaguars (the toddler is learning about similar and different). We're also going to go to our local botanic gardens and take pictures in their field of crocuses, hopefully. Sometimes it's a flowery mud puddle. My husband is also hoping to teach the toddler how to peddle her trike so walks around the block are slightly less back breaking. Enjoy your spring break! Ours is in two weeks

I am spending my spring break snuggling with my sweet newborn son and chasing after my wild 4 year old. I have to return to work after my maternity leave the Monday after my Spring Break so I will be enjoying every minute with my wonderful boys!

I am taking my daughter to the beach for the very first time! I can't wait to spend time with my little blessing and introduce her to the sand and shores of Myrtle Beach!

Neener said...

Well I wish I could say that I will be swimming or visiting a beach but that would take a 26hr drive for me. Our spring break is not for 2weeks, so we will be enjoying EASTER with the kids, going to GRANDMA's, hiking, walk the dogs and watch the SNOW MELT.
I love no schedules, just me and the KIDDO's. Hope you have a FAB time with SHAMU.

We're staying home together (my husband is a teacher) and getting some painting done around the house. It will be the anniversary of us being in our house for 5 years and I have a few things that need changing. Not fun, necessarily, but dramatic!!

We're going to the Grassroots Art Center in Lucas, Kansas!

We are planning to spend a few days sleeping in, watching movies, eating breakfast for dinner, and trying to beat Mario Super Bros on the Wii. After all of that fun, we are headed to Branson for a little fun at Silver Dollar City, shopping and swimming. Hurry up Spring Break!!

Spring break sounds wonderful (we don't have that here in Australia). If we did have one I'd probably spend it in the garden, spotting butterflies and bugs with my three kids :)

Lis said...

No spring break here. :-( I wish we had some spring break weather though. We're in Seattle and it's been R-A-I-N-I-N-G. Because of the rain we're inside. With a broom in hand. Why a broom you ask? My three year old was given a dump truck for her birthday and she's been earth moving. Unfortunately the earth involved is from my houseplants.

Kelly said...

I am going to take my golden retriever puppy to the dog park since it will be so nice out! He has only seen snow and it will be fun for him to play in the grass!

Nothing fancy! Just chillin' with the kids...playing, games, reading, crafts galore and possibly going on a 4 hour drive to stay a few day with Grandma. We'll see, we have a couple more weeks to plan it.

We are looking forward to spending time with our kids over spring break. We plan on doing a trip to the zoo, visiting some local parks, baking cookies, playing board games, and just enjoying each other's company. Oh yeah, we'll probably spend some time playing "Just Dance" on the Wii :) Too fun!

Jenny said...

I'm going to spend as much time with my two daughters, while I patiently (anxiously) wait for baby number 3 to arrive. We'll go to a musuem, the mall, parks, and out to eat. Anything to fill the time and enjoy our family before it grows!

Well since I am a full time grad school student who also works 4 part time jobs, I'm excited to announce that my Spring Break will include sleep, scrapbooking, trying some yummy (hopefully) new recipes, taking the cutest 3 1/2 year old twin girls to the Fort Worth Natural Science and History Musuem, to Dallas to have their Easter pictures made, for sure to the park, and maybe even the zoo! It may not sound like much, but I can't wait! Hope everyone else has a great time of relaxing and renewal!

Trina said...

Not doing anything to creative, just want to relax a week away from school and maybe start working on a bedroom remake.

thearthurz said...

crafting projects with my 5 year old and 1 year old. We are going to make bunny garland to hang up for Easter and paint some pottery. All fun, local things!

I live in So. Cal so the possibility are endless but I'm thinking six flags. I have two teenagers that enjoy themed parks and haven't been there for awhile.

Monday. Boys will go to Grandmas while Mama works.

Tuesday. Lazy morning in bed watching cartoons. Hanging at the house while mama catches up after work on Monday.

Wednesday. A trip to the Children's Museum with a stop at the park afterwards.

Thursday. A zoo day with enough time to sit around and dig in the sandbox. Stop at the cupcake shop on the way home.

Friday. Movie night with Papa. Complete with plety of snacks and things that are normally off limits.

(Things are different this year. We have to cut back and enjoy what we have right here.)

My son turns 5 at the beginning of spring break. He doesn't know it, but we are whisking him off on a surprise trip to Chattanooga, TN to stay in a real train car at the Chattanooga Choo Choo, visit the model train museum, swim in the pool, and visit the aquarium. He's obsessed with trains so I can't wait to see his face.

Unfortunately, I won't be joining my friends and 200 middle school students going to Memphis for a mission trip! I have done that for the last two years! Because I don't have a middle schooler this year, I will be heading into the woods with my hubby and two boys to evict a couple of beaver families out of their homes! :( I'm told the beaver dams must go!

I hope you and your family have a great time at Six Flags and Sea World!!

Thanks for the giveaway!!

Technically I don't have a spring break, as we live in Chile where the seasons are reversed and our kids are just returning to school after a long summer break!

Unfortunately the start of a new school year has been overshadowed by Chile's massive earthquake. We ourselves did not feel it in northern Chile but my sister's family in central Chile was rocked by it.

In another week, my sis, her hubby and four kids will be flying up to visit and hopefully leaving earthquake memories behind for a few days. We'll call it our spring break ... and we plan to camp on the beach, swim in the thermal waters of a nearby oasis, and visit a ghost town in the driest desert in the world (all in our own "backyard!")

Stephanie said...

We are taking our 1st official family vacation. We are going to Washington D.C. for some education fun. My oldest can't wait to see the White House. He thinks he is going to be able to swim in the pool and go to the bowling alley with the Obamas though. I have not broke the news to him yet that we cannot actually hang out the with the Pres. and his family. Hopefully the zoo and aquarium will do with some space shuttles and dinosaurs thrown in.
Have a great break! I love your jewelry!

I am retired and everyday is spring break to me now. I used to so look forward to this time of year when I was teaching, but this is way better. I will be spending some time with my great-granddaughter on her first birthday party. What could be more fun than that?

Anonymous said...

We don't have our spring break until mid-April, but we are already planning some spring cleaning of toys to donate, some day/road trips around NY state to awesome children's museums (extremely pumped for the Lego exhibit at the Rochester Children's Musuem...is that super dorky?), and some down time with crafts & lego architecture, including paint, chalk & beads. I'm probably being a little over ambitious given that I have a nursing infant. :)

Our little ones are too young for school (3 and 1) but we have our dear usual week ahead, to which we are looking forward. I have just begun to read "Peter Pan" to our babies and the 3 year old is keenly interested in this Tinkerbell character...! So I see a good deal of reading in the backyard in my near future. The simple joys.

Crystal said...

All I plan to do is spend some quality, lounging around, snugglin on the couch, watching tv, fresh air outside kind of fun with my babies. NO vacation is planned. Just pure family time!

I'm planning on taking the kids to the park and getting them to take pics for me :)

We don't have spring break in the UK, but we did have half term a few weeks ago, so that probably counts, even though I worked through it! :) I would love to have some springy jewellery, I love all of your creations. :)

I will be working. But my daughter will be visiting "dinosaur valley" aka Fossil Rim with my mom, and also possibly going a place your family recently went, the Omniplex!

We're taking birthday pictures!

There's an industrial park near us with these FUN 4' tall number-sculptures at their driveway entrances. They're orange and fabulous, numbered 1-5

... so...

We're going to take a picture of our son, newly turned 4 years old, next to the big, orange, number 4!!

Hopefully the weather will behave... either way we will have lots of fun with our little ham.

My biggest plan for Spring Break is not to plan. I want to cater to the whims of my kids--trips to the park, visit grandpa, dinner at home or away--wherever we happen to be... No schedules, agendas, meetings, or have-tos. Sounds like heaven to me.

My mom is turning 60 the first weekend of spring break. The Tuesday after her b-day, my brother is surprising her by coming from CO for a visit. Then a few days later is her surprise party. We will be spending most of the week keeping secrets I imagine!!!

Jennifer said...

My kids aren't in school yet, so spring break doesn't really affect me. We'll still enjoy the week since the weather's getting nicer. I'm sure we'll spend lots of time outside taking wagon rides, doing sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and playing at the park.

For our spring break we are heading to a local hotel/waterpark with 3 of our friends and their families! All together there will be 12 kids and 8 adults! It is going to be a BLAST!!!!

We are getting our back yard ready for summer. It's a dirt mound right now and we want to make it a paradise for our kidlets. The underground sprinklers are going in now. I can't wait to see the sheer joy on our kid's faces this summer when they are enjoying our hard work. :)

I'm doing something I've wanted to do in forever . . . help with sheep shearing. My friend, Cindy, is the proud owner of the sheep, and I can hardly wait. I've loved knitting with her sheep and alpaca fiber in the past, but I've never helped with shearing!!! Yay . . . such fun, I can hardly wait!!

BTW, I became familiar with you from NieNie's web site, but never told anyone I'd love to have one of your necklaces . . . lo and behold, my daughter gave me one for Christmas!! I love it totally!!!!!

Happy Spring Break to everyone!!!

xoxo

We are going to take a week off from these words, "Hurry up! Get in the car! Get buckled up! Let's go! Where's your backpack? Why did you take your shoes off? School.is.starting.right.now." We are all very excited! It's pretty easy to please your kids when they're 5, 4, and 2. :)
