i love you { a giveaway! }

When we were at Disney in June,
we took the boat back over the water at Magic Kingdom,
probably around midnight.

I saw a dad and a son
happily signing to each other
and it sparked an idea...

a sign (i love you)...

iloveu

We tried it out a few different ways...

This necklace (above) was made for Sarah (a newbie to tvp!), and right after she put it on she went to get ice cream with her girls. The lady behind the counter was hearing impaired, and touched Sarah's necklace, admiring it, she could relate to it!

Sarah went to her car, took off her name charm, then took the rest of the necklace back to the lady, touching her to tears!

Sarah was thrilled to bless her.

We made Sarah a new one (of course!)

around the edge in lowercase plain...

this one is slightly domed in whimsy...

and we plan to offer just the "i love you" hand on a charm as well :)

*****

Let's give one away!

Leave us a comment- which one is your fave?

Blog it, tweet it @thevintagepearl, and facebook it for extra entries (please leave a separate comment for each).

We'll pick a random winner on monday.

Happy friday!

So sweet-- my kids and I trade that sign all the time-- my eldest even flashes it to me from the window of the school bus! I think I like the one with the names around the sign the best. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

I love the "around the edge lowercase plain" necklace. I immediately thought of my sister-in-law who has had a terrible year. She has three children and would LOVE to have that necklace, I'm sure. If I don't win...I'd love to buy one for her for Christmas. I love your jewelry and cannot wait to purchase my first piece :)

Unknown said...

Oh I LOVE LOVE LOVE all three! I need to put this on my wish list!

The 2nd photo is my favorite - although I love them all. My parents are deaf and ASL is my native (and preferred) language. I don't care if I win... I'm going to get one of these for my mom with my parents' names engraved on it along with 'Together Forever'. My dad died 10 years ago and I know she would love it.

You do such beautiful work!

That was so sweet of Sarah... what a loving and giving heart. There should be more people in the world like that!! I love PIFing (paying it forward) to others too, even if it is passing my daughter's outgrown clothes along to someone else in need or sending a care package to a friend who is having a hard time.
(BTW I love Braums too, Sarah!) :)
Thanks for the chance to win!

We sign with our kids, so this is perfect!

When I sign "I love you" to our 3-year-old he signs it upside down and says, "this is the sign for Spiderman's web!"

Oh, I am sooooo excited about this! I took ASL in college and loved it! I would love to just have the basic charm to add to one of my current necklaces, dainty drops. Thanks for making this.

They are all SO cute, but the very first one is my favorite! There are lots of people I know who will love this!

Ashley said...

Oh how I would LOVE the last necklace. My youngest and I sign this to each other all the time, and have since she was a baby (she'll be 6 next month). In a strange coincidence, one of my favorite pics of her is from the boat at Disney 2 years ago. It was also midnight or later and she was sitting so contently on her dad's lap enjoying the ride. I started to snap a picture and she saw me and held up the I love you sign. It brings tears to my eyes to think of it now. I must have this necklace.

I prefer the second one...

Oh, I love the necklace with the name charm. I would gift it to my friend, Angie. Both Angie & her husband, Tommy, are hearing impaired. I would have their son's name, Chase, put on the name charm.

I love the plain I love you hand. I have a friend at church who can not speak. She had a car accident when she was younger and it left her with disabilities. She types on a little computer to communicate and she can hear. She does use sign language too, and we always sign I love you to each other. She is such a blessing, always happy and full of joy in the LORD. I would love to bless her with this if I won.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win this for a friend of mine who is deaf and has 4 children(one child is also deaf). We met because our husbands are both State Troppers. She is an AMAZING women and mother!! The time she spends alone raising her children while he works and the way she can communicate with them will just cause a loss for words to come.

Just watching her sign to them and them sign back to her....there are no words to explain!

I'm pretty certain that I didn't know what love was until my son was born. Now that he's 20 months old, he's learning more and more and sign language is no exception. This is something we've worked on for a while now and to see him pick it up is amazing. This is a beautiful gift and not only to the hearing impaired community, but to everyone. I absolutely love the "I Love You" sign as a plain charm and then another with the names. Beautiful work, as usual.

Perfect! I like them all, but I think I would choose the first one.

My sister, who was a sign language interpreter, passed away from breast cancer at the end of last year. I would like to get this with her name (Sara) and possibly the dates. I actually have the "I Love You" symbol tattooed on my leg for her!

The problem would be... do I keep it for myself or give it to my brother-in-law, niece, nephew, or parents?!

Stefenie said...

I LOVE, love, love the slightly domed in whimsy one. How wonderful that she was able to give her necklace to that lady. I am sure that will touch her deeply for a very long time. Random acts of kindness are the BEST!

Kaleidoscope Eyes 8 said...

I blogged it. (http://kaleidoscopeeyes8.blogspot.com/)

And I changed my mind about what I would want it to say. I would want the first or second one on it, with the quote "I am sending you light," as that was my sister's saying and what was at her life celebration (aka memorial service) and what I put on her memory cards.

I absolutely love this new necklace! My mother taught me this sign when I was very young and have kept it close to my heart with her. When my boyfriend (now husband) and I were in college at separate colleges, three and a half hours apart, I used to travel to his track meets to watch him run in circles. There were so many times that I never got to even hug him, and so I taught him the sign for I love you. I was able to watch him run and sign to him that I loved him, even if I never got to feel his embrace. It was a very tough four years. We are now married and when he leaves for work every morning, I stand at the front door with our baby and dog and we flash each other the sign. It is the last thing we see of eachother before we start our separate days. A lasting image that truely is burned in my heart.

I like the first one, where it is off center. This reminds me so much of my dad. Whenever we leave their house he has to walk us out and help load the kids in the car. Then he stands in the driveway waving the "I love you" sign until we are out of sight. The kids watch because they know he's going to be there waving his special way. They've all learned to do their fingers that way early 'like Papa".
I love this.
I wonder, could you do the two separate tags (one for the sign, and one for the grandkids names) on a keychain? I will have to keep this in mind for future gifts!

Really love the domed one, but they are all really neat! I also like the one with 2 pieces - one with the "I love you" and the other with the names.

I always do the "I love you" sign to my kids when I am backing out of driveway and they are watching Mommy drive away. I like the seperated hand sign and then the names on the other side the best.

Keep up the good work and I hope to visit your store soon.

I love the last one - domed and whimsy font...I would love if you could do one that had an initial stamped between the thumb and first finger!

Oh what a beautiful story! If only more in the world were like Sarah! I am totally inspired.

With six kids, I might need to have a second charm just for the names. But I think each necklace style is just beautiful!!

I have always had a special place in my heart for the hearing impaired. I love the one that has they sign on one pendant and the names on a separate, because my family is still growing and I want to add more names!

I like the domed one best, I think. I'm so indecisive.

I love the domed one! Very pretty! My sister is hearing impaired so she would love one of these! I'm sending her the link now!

Gosh, I love them all. I live here in Orlando, and visit my beloved Walt Disney World weekly. That story behind the necklace touched my heart. I love moments like these here in Orlando, it's what truly makes this place magical.

With the upmost sincerity, great work.

i love the domed whimsy necklace. this is gorgeous.

this necklace reminds me of that great part of the movie jerry maguire when they were in the elevator with the couple and the guy said in sign language, you complete me. so sweet!

Such a sweet story.
I like the necklace with the symbol and the names surrounding it. I especially like this one because my daughter's name is Makenzie and it is spelled the same way, which is highly unusual.

That is such a touching story. :) I remember when my great grandpa stood on the front porch and did the 'I love you' sign to us as we drove off. My great aunt and uncle had to know sign language, so I remember learning that same sign. :)

I love the whimsy one!

Blessings,

I think I like the "around the edge in lowercase plain" the best. Beautiful! Would be so meaningful for a mother with one or more hearing-impaired child!

I love the lower case around the edge! When my oldest son was born with severe heart defects we started teaching him to sign I love You at about a year old so even if he was intubated he could still tell us, and see us tell him we loved him!

I like the lowercase plain around the edge :) they're so touching!

hard choice! i think i like the first one the best, with the names off to the side, but only if you have multiple kids. otherwise, i love the one with the 2 charms.
