Oh how wonderful!
My Mother's 40th anniversay is today and my son's 12th birthday is today too. Twelve years ago it was such a joy to celebrate both their anniversary and the birth of our firstborn. It seems like yesterday...oh how time flies!

Happy Mom's day to all!

I'd love to win this. Mother's day is always special to me. Especially now since I am a mother. My mom is actually my step-mom. My real mom gave up custody of my brother and I. I was 12 when I went to live with my Dad and her. And I am thankful for her everyday!

Sadly, my mom passed away when I was just 16. Not a day goes by when I don't think about her, particularly now that I am a mom. I often wish I could ask her 'did I do that when I was four' or 'what did you do when this happened'. I'm okay knowing that she is always with me and I talk about her often to my kids so they will know a little about what she was like. They know she loved the naked feet of a baby/child and the soft feeling of their skin. When I lightly rub/tickle my son's back after turning out the lights, he knows that Grama Tomye used to do that do me when I was little. My daughter resembles her a bit too. I pulled out a toddler photo of my mom last weekend and had the kids guess who it was... they guessed it was my little McKenzie. I feel so fulfilled being a mom and I just have to trust that she felt the same way since I can't ever know for sure.

My mom is one of my closets friends, she gives me strength, support, and when I need it - a good reality check ;) She watches our son for us so that my husband and I can work which is not only a huge help finacially, but most importantly, my son is able to spend time w/ one of the most wonderful and giving women I know. I love you Mom!

Happy Early Mother's Day to all you Moms out there :)

I have the most amazing mother. She always put her daughters before herself. She raised my sister and me mostly by herself and I so appreciate all the sacrifices she made for us. I try so hard to be half the mom she was to me to my daughter.

My mother is an amazing woman. I am the youngest of her 6 children. She was ready to be done after 4, but my father said, "Let's have one more." Little did they know I would come with a twin brother.. :) My mother stayed home with the kids until my twin and I were in 2nd grade. She then started to work at our elementary so she would have the same schedule as us. I'm 20 years old now, and she still works there in the library and loves devoting her time to that environment. I have a loving boyfriend of 2 years, but even he knows my mother is my best friend. When I've had a hard day, a great day, or just something I'm excited about, she's my go-to person to call. I don't get to see her as often as I would like with being moved out, going to school, and working full time- but I hope when I do see her, she knows I love every minute. She's raised me to be loving and respectful and smart in my choices. I love my mother and I hope to show her just how much on this Mother's Day- the 20th I will have had with her.

My mom is the best! She raised my 2 brothers and I by herself after my dad died. She was actually pregnant with me when he died (that was 32 years ago) and she didn't even realize it so he never knew I existed! She also took care of both of her aging parents. She IS strength to me! Sad thing is, she doesn't even realize it! I love her more than she'll ever know! Happy (early) Mother's Day!

we opened a play this week, and i'm in it. in the play, i bring my cat onstage (on a harness & leash)...on opening night both my parents came, sat in the front row. and my mother was calling to the cat, trying to get her to go sit on her lap. oh, mom.

Kate said...

my mom patiently waited to have kids for 9 years! my parents wanted to have kids so they planned to adopt, but God had other plans for them...over the next 4 years God finally blessed her with me, my brother and sister.

my parents have always had a heart for helping others and decided to become foster parents. one day they called my mom and asked which one of 3 brothers she would like to take...my mom could not dream of splitting them up and took all three. my mom stayed at home during the day and worked some nights to take care of 6 kids (all under the age of 7) for 3 years until the boys were adopted.

my parents, now "empty nesters," helped each one of us grow up into who we are today. every day it is a blessing to know how much they did for us.

ps. sorry this is so wordy!

My Mom pretty much rocks. She just returned from a two-week trip to Mexico to provide free medical services to the people in an extremely impoverished community. She and my Dad are a happily married couple of 30 years and are some of the greatest people I know! I'd love to give her a special Mother's Day gift with my sisters' and my names on it, especially since we're all "grown up" and scattered now.

We've had our ups n downs (like all, I think) but I love her dearly. Her health is at best, precarious, these days and I get to see her every second day when I pick her up and bring her to the hospital for treatment. I'm valuing each and every day I get to spend with her now as I know that they are numbered and the final number could happen upon us at any time.

Enjoy your weekend with your family Erin, and I will with mine too. xx

I am probably sharing a little too much information on your blog, but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to share about my MOM. My mother is a recovering drug addict who almost lost her life to the evil demons of drugs. I have 3 beautiful little girls who love her dearly and who she lives for today. My MOM lives in California has not been able to see them in nearly 4 years. We Skype and they talk to her on the phone often. My youngest daughter who is 4 1/2 hasn't officially met my mother because the last time my MOM saw her she was only 3 months old. Funny thing however, is that out of all 3 of my girls, she is the one who talks about "Nana" the most and who will often out of the clear blue sky say "I miss Nana so much!" (It brings a smile to my face just thinking about it now).

So there you have it. My MOM is truly the greatest mother in the world and I wish with everything within me that I could give her the biggest hug this Mother's Day.

I know all kids say that their mom is their hero but for me it SO true.
My mom lost her father to cancer, her mother to emphazima and my dad in a car crash all within 3 years of eachother. But in spite of the tradgity she continued on with style & grace to raise me and my brother. She is truely an amazing mom and always led me in her example of totally trusting in the Lord.
She is now remarried and is a wonderful "Mimi" to 9 grandchildren.
My mom has truely showed me that no matter what you are delt in life, God will NEVER leave or forsake you.

Mother's Day is hard for me. I have conflicted feelings about it. My mother passed away on December 21, 2001 from complications with Type 2 Diabetes. She was only 53 years old. I miss her so very much. There is so much that I wish she could see.
This year will be my daughter's first Mother's Day and I am hoping to make it very special. Her journey to motherhood has been very difficult. The father denied to be involved, she had morning sickness for 5 months, developed toxemia, and now poor thing has the baby blues. I would so love a gift certificate to help make Mother's Day special this year!

My mom is really far away right now serving a mission for our church in Samoa. I'm living in and taking care of her house and really missing her. It's funny how even though you think you appreciate someone, sometimes it takes them being really far away to realize all the little things they do for you. Things like hold your baby, give constant words of encouragement, tell you you're a good mom even when you think you're failing miserably. I really miss having her around but it's the little things that I miss the most. Other than my husband she's the first person I want to talk to, cry with, laugh with. Luckily our separation is only temporary!

As a teen I fought my mother tooth and nail! If she said black, I said white. I must've given her half of the gray hairs on her head. Once I moved out on my own I realized I missed her, her advice, her home remedies and the stories she shared from her past. She's been my best friend ever since, well, she always was, but it was then that I finally realized it.
Living half way across the country from where she is has given me a much greater appreciation for her and the person she is and the person she has helped me become. I can't wait until we live in the same state again!

I hope that I am half the mom to my baby girl (soon to arrive in May) that my mom is to me.

My mom is one of the most self-less people that I know. She is regularly going out of her way to help a friend in need, give an encouraging word or offering prayer for those she loves.

My MOM is my HERO!!! She was a single parent my whole life always made sure I knew how much she loved me! I know it wasn't easy raising me by herself and putting my needs first for 18 years
(actually she still tries to put my needs ahead of hers) I am so proud to be her daughter. Not only was my Mom amazing to me growing up, but she is an awesome Nana to my three little ones - she always takes time to spend one on one with each of them and let them know how special they are!

My mom is wonderful in everyway. she has taught my sister and myself what it truely means to love unconditionally. she has been our support through tough and good moments and each step of the way showed us love and patients. She is my perfect role modle and I know when I have a child I will want to follow in her steps.

I remember when my Mom arrived when my first son was born. I was amazed that her first goal was to make sure ME, her daughter, was ok. She nurtured me to become a new Mom. She was absolutely thrilled to be a new Grandma but having her take care of me was wonderful! Mother's never stop nourishing their offspring. I love and adore my Mom.

My mom and I are best friends, if we don't see eachother everyday we talk on the phone everyday. She is an amazing mother and an even more amazing grandmother to my children. I don't know what I would do without my mom, she is always there for me no matter what. She supports me in important decisions, comforts me in hard times and is always there to just laugh or sometimes even cry with me! I just hope my kids will think the same way of me that I do of my mom!

My Mom,....
She always did the best she could even though life was unfair,... Sometimes I felt lonely, but she was always there. As we grew we grew apart which hollowed out both of our hearts. But by the Globy Be we came together, grew and saw eachother,.. not for the fault or the hurt feelings more for the joy and the future of living. Now we are both grown and as quick as that came we both have joy in children that carry our names. For now the future is bright and discretions are left behind I am her friend and she is mine.

My mother is my best friend, hero, support system, & NEIGHBOR! I never thought I'd enjoy living so close to her as we do. I always knew she'd "always be ther for me" but she has taken that phrase to a whole new level. Thanks mom!

There is so much I can say about my mother. She endured a childhood she made sure wouldn't pass on to my brother or I. Despite mistakes I made, she never stopped loving or praying for me. She welcomed my husband into her family as if he were her own and continues to pray for my family daily, as well as my brother. She is an inspiration and I could only hope to be as half as good a mother as she was and is to me.

I lost my mom in 2006 to cancer. She never got to meet my babies, but I know that she sees them. She was the BEST mom! I talked to her 3 or more times a day, I could count on her for anything, and she never let me feel unloved. She was strong, dedicated, and amazing. She shaped me into the woman I am today.

My mom has always been a source of strength for me, has always given me confidence and supported me in all that I do. And now I turn to her more than I ever have - with baby #3 on the way and her having had 6 kids, I'm constantly asking for advice! Don't know how she did it...she's an amazing woman, that's for certain!

My mom is the most amazing woman I have ever known. Raising me and my 3 siblings as a single mom our whole lives and we have accomplished so much because of her! I can't wait to be even a glimpse of the woman she is when I have kids. She is my best friend in the world and is always there for me through the thick and thin.

I share my mother with 8 other children, and my dad. So getting quality time with her is almost non-existant. But, I will get to spend six months with her when my husband gets deployed, and I couldn't imagine anyone better to spend that time with! I love my mother and would definitely use this gift certificate on her.

My mom worked as a full time as a small town nurse for over 45 years. Blessing the lives of many. I am SO proud of her. But the best part I love about my mom is that she was "mom" first. To all of us (8) kids. She made sure we were where we were suppose to be at all times. She made sure we were WELL fed and well dressed....sewing and cooking meals late into the night, or bright and early in the dawn, for the next day.

We came home after school to find handwritten notes from her with a big crockpot of something she made for us. And she would call us on every single one of her breaks at work.

Yup. We were always FIRST in her mind.

Love my mom.
