ask tvp a question {fun!}

A couple of years ago orders grew to be too much for me to handle alone, so I started enlisting help from friends. The team has grown and I am incredibly thankful for the amazing women God has brought my way to help! We have grown to be close- we laugh together daily and have even shed some tears together.

Each one of them plays a unique but important role (stamping, assembling, shipping, retail, customer service, etc)...

(this is not the entire team, it's rare that we are all at the studio at the same time for a pic).

I thought it would be fun to do a "ask us a question" post,
something I've never done before!

So if you have a question that you'd like to ask me or any of the team,
(it can be about anything),
ask below as a comment,
and we will answer them at the end of the week!

Thanks for this opportunity. We are working to make our business debt free. Is your business debt free?

What's the #1 most frequently purchased piece of jewelry? Or, since you introduce so many new ones throughout the year, how about just for 2010 alone?

What inspired you to begin your business (like way back when it was just through etsy, etc)? Was it a specific event or comment/conversation from someone or just a "whim & a prayer" progression from hobby to biz or ??

Do you ever allow others to provide you with pearls. For example a pearl from a grandmothers necklace or another piece of jewelry? My husband used to dive for freshwater pearls and has some that he would like to make into jewelry for his 3 daughters since he no longer dives.

Hi! I was wondering how you first started and decided to do stamping jewelry. How did you choose to do that? Did you have other ideas?!

Are you going to expand your business in other states? I would love to work with your business in Northeast Georiga! Oh are you able to engrave the "I love you" sign language inside the ring band?

I don't really have a question, I just wanted to let you know that I found your store through A Few of My Favorite Things and I fell in love. My anniversary is coming up next week and I think I will be emailing a link to your store to my husband;-) Thanks for making such beautiful and inspiring jewelry. There is not one item on there that I didn't love!

Someone already asked something similar to my question - I was wondering if you can stamp the sign language 'I love you' hand on a bracelet.

Also - if you took a vote amongst your team members, what would be your top 3 favorite books of all time? How about songs?

First...love, love, love your stuff! I have a few pieces and always seem to have my eye on something.

Two questions: How did you get started? What is your long term vision for your business?

Wishing you continued success and blessings,
Karen

I too am wondering what your long term goals are and how were you doing business online before you decided to open a store?

I saw that you advertise in Martha Stewart Living magazine in the Marketplace section. I was wondering how successful that was for you as I'm thinking about doing it for my business. Thanks!

Have you ever considered doing race themed pieces, I'm running my first race, a half marathon this fall and would LOVE something to commemorate the race with.

Love your jewelry, both me and my 8 year old have necklaces that we love.

Wow! You do have A LOT of employees. I was surprized to see so many. How many people work there?

I have a hand stamped jewelry business as well. My question pertains to expanding your business such as you did. Was it hard for you to let people make YOUR designs? I'm at a point where I could certainly use help but I can't imagine not handmaking each and every design so I will have to just try to clone myself. LOL

Oh how fun! My main question would be how you came up w/ a business plan & come up with new ideas so often? I recently started a handmade business & am struggling w/ findng time to keep up w/ new ideas & strategies.

Do you girls have fun seeing all the different names that you stamp? I have a little obsession with names... I know I'd love it!

Just remembered another question. I was wondering where you get your supplies from, do you order them online individually or do you order them in bulk? Also do you have some custom made or are they already made stamps? thanks!

I've sent in an email asking this question before, but do you think you will ever create a piece that is specifically military/veteran oriented? I was thinking something w/ a service branch (like USMC) or support our troops, etc. Thanks!

Is it still fun and exciting for you even though it's "work" an so big now then when it was just you, or how to you try and make it fun and exciting and not get into the mundune or work?
Also, when did you realize or know that you "had made it" Was it a certain even, time, when you realized, "this is it! I'm legit!"

What is the best way to gain traffic to your Etsy shop. Did you pay to advertise? Word of mouth? Just your blog? How can a little Etsy shop improve?

Hey Erin, How long does it take to stamp a design on a necklace? I have shutterbug, I love you, and Key to my Heart! Just wondering!

I'd still love a necklace that has something to do with scrapbooking!!!

How did you decide on calling your business, the vintage pearl? and what was your first piece of jewelery to sell?
Thank You!!!!

First question: Will you be answering all these questions via blog? (I have some questions that have already been asked by others)

Second: If not, I was wondering where you got your supplies as well. I haven't found any suppliers that I am just in love with yet.

Third: How do get traffic to your Etsy store?

Fourth: At what point did you decide to do your own website away from Etsy, and is it very difficult to do?

Thanks for this blog post-I have way too many questions! Ha!
