treasures.

For some reason I feel like I'm nesting
up at the studio.
I want to change paint colors
and re-decorate
and organize everything!
(and no, I'm NOT pregnant!)

So today Eden and I went treasure hunting
at one of our favorite thrifting spots...

Aren't these old cameras fun?
I loved all of them,
but I only grabbed the top right one,
may have to go back for the brownie or polaroid,
and the typewriter was so fun,
and old telephones were also calling out to me...

I grabbed some shutters for a new earring stand at the store
but I have another project for those I want to try also,
will post pics when it's done :)

Not completely sure what to do with this old window... (but I love it!)

I'm sure we will come up with something fab.
(any ideas?)

There's a similar door I will probably go back for
with an old crystal knob.

We loved this birdcage... (Eden wanted to climb inside it)

but a little too big for our space :)

And these are Eden's treasures...

They helped us get through the entire store
with no meltdowns,
and kept her hands full so we could
"look with our eyes, not our hands"
(anyone else say this?
Eden now tells me, "don't worry mommy,
I not touch,
I'm looking with my EYES.")
and not a single thing was knocked over.

* * *

So I feel a tiny bit satisfied,
but still have lots of ideas and changes for our studio and store,
rolling through my head...
maybe it will pass,
or maybe we will be painting soon :)

Replace the glass in the window with chicken wire and hang necklaces. :-)

On the glass window... you can always turn it into a white board. Use dry erase markers to write out messages, specials, etc. You can put in a backing covered in your favorite material to give more style and better readability. Like this one:

I've seen a lot of cool tables that were made from old windows like the one you found. I'm sure you could find an easy DIY guide on the web

Great treasures :)

You could always use the window for favorite pictures.

I could totally see that beautiful window as a display spot for some of your pieces that use the birthstone charms. If you had that against the light, the colors would really shine through!

I'm so jealous that you have stores like that near you! There is nothing close to me where I can find cool treasures!

First, Bravo for recycling! I love thrift stores. You need to give us the name. I want to know if they have one like it in Lubbock!

Second, I have 2 of the 3 cameras you pictured! I love cameras! I own the Brownie and the Polaroid!

Third, I love the Mickey! I'm a Disney fanatic~ is that one of those old toys that you put the round disc with the slide pics in and view the pics? Name escapes me! Or is it a Mickey camera? I just love it!

Fourth, that window has endless possibilities. Can't wait to see what you finally decide on. And, I love the shutter for earrings display!

Way to go!!

Happy Hunting, Carrie

i have 3 windows like the one you found hanging in my living room that are waiting for pictures. i'm thinking that i'll take some seasonal outdoor pictures and change them out with the season. or get some great shots of my family and print them in sepia and put them in the windows.
also- i love the shutters! i've seen them made into places to keep and sort your mail. you just paint it and attach a piece of cheap wood or backer board to the back of it so your mail doesn't fall through.

Maybe attach some bead board behind the window and put some hooks in each square to hang necklaces. Bead board always looks great distressed too!

BTW - I just ordered a necklace from you and cannot wait to get it. I have waited a long time and I'm SO excited.

I received one of your necklaces for Christmas and love it. I am ordering one now for my best friend for her birthday. I can't wait for her to see it, I know she will love her's too. We always tell each other we love each other to the moon and back so you had the perfect necklace for both of us.

I love the cameras! I never find good old ones, just cheap plastic junk. For the window I like the idea of a dry-erase type message center. I wouldnt have the heart to remove the glass.

I would make the window into a photo frame! I love the look! or put it in your office and turn it into a dry erase board with cute paper behind it, or just use some chalkboard paint!!
