relaxing and sprucing...

christmas 09
We had an amazing snow on Christmas Eve that left us with a very white Christmas! We've been sledding, making snowmen, having snowball fights, and then warming up with lots of hot chocolate!

Eden loved opening presents- she caught on quickly :)

My parents gift to Ryan and I was a night out, and we already redeemed it! We saw "The Blindside" (really good, true story, a must see!), dinner at IHOP (the only restaurant open) and stayed at The Renaissance hotel. So relaxing and much needed alone time, thank you Mom and Dad!

We had friends over, played spades, Pit and farkle, shopped with gift cards, watched movies with the kids... had a very relaxing weekend :)

Now we are sprucing up the house a bit... it needs new paint!

Ryan has been asking me to pick out backsplash tile and paint colors for our house for months, but I was just so busy I couldn't find what I was looking for. I promised him that over the Christmas break I would get some decisions made...

so does anyone know of a nice, warm brownish taupe color?

I am looking at using exactly the same type color for my family room.

I am suppose to go today and get some paint. My husband has been after me to pick one out so he can get the family room painted.

I'm looking for the "warm brownish taupe color also.

Let me know how it goes for you.

My bedroom is painted "Texas Leather" which is a Pottery Barn color. I love it...it's warm, brownish/taupe/hint of green.

Hello, first let me start with I LOVE your blog. I love your jewelry more! I still don't have any pieces but, I keep sending hints my husbands way! One day! As for brown colors I love our colors and get a lot of comments on them as well. In our basement our wall color is warm earth and the ceiling is gobi desert. Our upstairs will someday be the gobi desert for the walls and ceiling. They are both Behr colors from Home Depot! Thank you also to find the names of those colors I had to clean out my desk drawer. A much needed task indeed! I hope you have a great rest of your day! Thanks so much for such a lovely read when I find time!

Good neutrals are hard to find.
My favorites taupes:
Ralph Lauren Taupe #5 and Sherwin Williams Latte or Hopsack (on the same swatch). I have all of these in my house. Good luck!

That strawberry dessert looks so yummy. Would you mind sharing the recipe?

I love Sherwin Williams Urban Putty We have it in the living room and play room. It's the perfect shade of khaki so probably not what you are looking for.

You have snow...we have sun surf and sand...Oh how I would like to experience a ☃white Christmas☃ one day, one day {{{sighs}}} :0)
Good luck on the hunt for your perfect warm brownish taupe colour...I could make a few suggestions however I'm not so sure you'd be able to get your hands on them ☺ I also have a fantastic idea for a splash back...but I'm wondering out aloud on how to show you! oh wait...I'll find a link..

A Glass splash back...I'm thinking of the gorgeous musk colour...they have a piccy of one that is almost the same musky colour as is on your sample tins...it goes SO well with the taupe colour. My in-laws have such lovely taste...they have redone their kitchen using various tones and tints of the Taupe and their splash back is made from glass...very classy, I WANT their kitchen LOL.
Good Luck
Cheers

Love your blog! Sisal by Ralph Lauren is a fabulous color and not too dark. Good luck, and I am totally dropping hints to the hubby for a Valentine's Day necklace with our four kids names on it!!

The lighting in my home must be really weird because colors I've always relied on in the past looked horrible here. We bought our home a year ago and it came with cherry cabs, taupe carpet and a neutral mexican noce looking floor tile. It was a challenge to find a color that would compliment the warmth of the cherry and floro tile and still look good next to the carpet. I finally decided on Gaucho (619) from Wal Mart. Yes, I said Wal Mart. This from a girl who typically uses Ralph Lauren & Dunn Edwards or ICI paint! And don't judge it by the color on the card. If I did, I never would have picked it! I found it on a fluke - had a quart mixed up and then randomly painted samples from all of my quarts on hand and that was the one that works the best. A year later and I have to say, I really love this color.

Good luck!
