dad's day. [ a giveaway! ]

Over the years I have TRIED to give Ryan something sentimetal from the kids for Father's Day. Ryan loves pictures, and his office at work is full of pictures of our family! One of the first Father's Day presents was a picture cube that still sits on his desk...

(that's baby Caleb!)

A couple of years ago I took 5" x 7" pictures our our 3 kids (Eden wasn't born yet) each holding up a sign that they had made themselves spelling out "I heart Dad!" Then before I framed them the kids each wrote their name on the white matte- would also be neat to have them write a little note to Dad there!

Last year the individual picture thing was NOT working- Eden refused to hold up a sign long enough for me to snap a picture! Thankfully I had recently taken a picture of the kids with Ryan, and this time had the older 3 kids write a note on the white matte... (picture is an 8" x 10")

Ryan has these pictures up on a wall in his office :)

**********

We had a mother's day giveaway, so let's do one for Dad!

(We don't want him to feel left out, right? And if you win and decide to keep it, we promise not to tell.)

Let's giveaway a few $50 gift certificates to our website!

Simply tell us what you are getting your Dad or hubbie for Father's Day on sunday to enter.

Blog, tweet it (@thevintagepearl), facebook the contest for extra entries.

Hope all of the Dads have a fabulous Father's Day!

I am way into photography and have been for a while. I was posting a group of nature photos onto facebook and my dad commented on how he loved one of them! SO I printed it in a 5x7 with a matte and frame and that's what I am giving to my dad. I hope he likes it!

Well, I thought *last* Sunday was Father's Day (so did my husband, apparently, because he never corrected me)!!

My girls and I cooked all his favorite foods and let him do what he wanted all day. In a few weeks, he's getting a jigsaw to finish up some projects he's been working on!

I bought some vinyl lettering that reads "Dad, A son's First Hero & A Daughter's First Love" I'm putting it in a frame with a few pics of the kids. I have a son & daughter, so this fits up perfectly!!! I can't wait to give it to him!!!

Thanks & keep up the great work!!

It's my husband's FIRST Father's Day!! So I'm going a little overboard. I'm bringing our dads down via train to San Diego for a Padres game. I also got him an Ergo Baby carrier (he really wanted one!) so he can hold our little girl at the game. I also got him a day golfing for himself and a buddy. Last, but not least, I'm making him a key chain that says something about Tessa and Daddy for his work keys. He works in Sacramento and is only home on the weekends, so we had to go big!

My dad loves to read and for the last several years has only been reading non-fiction (he says he has only so much time left to read and there is so much great stuff he has limited it to non-fiction!) So I found 2 books I think he hasn't read yet. He has also planted a garden in honour of my mom and I will buy him a few plants for that.

besides his Father's Day card that I made on Shutterfly - this year I took the kids to have their pictures taken all decked out in their Duke gear {my husband is a Duke graduate and a HUGE fan} - I then framed and matted 3 of the photos in a horizontal frame, and 5 of the photos in a vertical frame. These are intended for his home office which we just recently got organized and pulled together for him.

My youngest son (I have 3 boys) made Dad a duct-tape wallet for Father's Day (with older brothers' help). I'm debating on a book, a Nook or Kindle, or a video game to my dear hubby from me. Or I might just make him some special pancakes. Happy Father's Day to all Dads and Father figures out there! I'd love to win in your latest giveaway. I've got the best husband (celebrating 15 years of wedded bliss and 19 years of togetherness in August)!!

Thanks,
Kim

Kim Williams said...

On another note (maybe to inspire someone), one year I had my 3 boys hold up a different letter each that together spelled "Happy Father's Day." Then I printed out all those pics (in miniature form) on magnet paper, and he has them on his file cabinet at work.

Happy Father's Day!

my husband hates having to have a wallet in his back pocket (he thinks it makes his butt look big...don't tell him i said anything), so we found a money clip that is too perfect. money clips aren't what they use to be...they are better! this has slots for all his cards, a little pocket and the traditional clip, that's magnetized! and it's flat and thin, perfect for his front pocket, i can't wait for him to open it up!

My DH is deployed and has missed the last 7 months of DDs life. I am a bit of an obsessive picture taker, so DD and I went thru all the pictures from the day he left to present and picked out 2 from each month. We then had a collage made for him. She painted a plain wooden frame and that was sent off. She loved the way it came out and did one for her Grandpa (my dad, too!). To some, it's really not that big of a deal, but being away and not having too much room for personal items, this was PERFECT!

Ok, so this year for fathers day my dad is coming to visit! I havent seen him for so long, so I got thinking what I could get him that would be extra special and it suddenly hit me! Every weekend growing up my dad would take me to get a milk shake at the local diner and we would talk and have our weekly time together (daddy/daughter time). I cherished those moments and so for this fathers day I am taking him for a milk shake and we are going to talk and spend some much needed daddy/daughter time together. I love my dad, he is the best! I am undecided. I had thought about one of those great leather bracelets, but it wasn't in the budget this month ( ie. run your money, don't let your money run you). :) So this would be a welcome treat. For Father's Day, I got tickets to a local baseball game for my husband, two teenage sons and my dad. What makes this even better is I also got them 'all you can eat' wristbands so they can pig out while they're watching the game!! They're all super excited.

I dont know if I will be able to get anything for my Papa Jack other then a humble card and my prayers this year. My dad recently lost his job of 19 years and I know how hard it has been on my mom especially. I sometimes can tell by the look on her face how hard it is for her to be afraid. I love my dad so much. I hope I win this so I can get me dad the key chain he wants with his 6 kids names. I hope I win this for that. I love you Papa Jack!! More then you know... Love, Jeri Ellen

I am making my hubby breakfast in bed. I also took my kids pictures and had them tell me what their favorite thing about their daddy was. Then I put it all in a card for him.

This year, my husband's position was eliminated and therefore he will be around a lot more. We are very happy to have him around (he used to travel all week and be home only for weekends).

The kids and I are giving Dad a beach chair and beach towel for Father's Day. You see, we live on Cape Cod and will be at the beach practically every day. This year since Dad will be joining us we want to be sure he has a comfortable seat to enjoy the simple life for a while (at least until he lands a new job).

I gave him the whole day today without the kids (we have 4). Let him sleep in, play his video games, etc. The best part is...we still get to spend father's day together. My boys signed & wrote a note on a mug for him and I made & order him a personalized mouse pad with our boys pictures on it (for his office).

p.s. I absolutely love your ideas, I think I will still them for next year. (i hope thats okay)

This year -- I skipped the sentimental and went sports. My hubby is a HUGE hockey fan, specificially Penguins (we're from Pittsburgh) and since they are building the new arena you can make a donation to the Mario Lemeuix foundation to have your photo permanently placed in a mosaic picture going into the new Consol Energy Center. He was SUPER EXCITED and we're helping kids with cancer, too!

I Facebooked you, too!

BTW -- I really love the necklace you made me with my daughters name on it. Turned out beautiful, I tell all of my friends about you!

My husband is a money saver and I am a gift giver, so for Fathers Day I am getting him... nothing! He will be so happy that I saved the money and resisted my need to buy a gift and he will love it, ha ha.

We usually do an activity in lieu of a gift, and this year it was a trip to the 'big city', (we're country folk :) to watch Toy Story 3. We actually went today and it was totally awesome!!

My Pops is getting a surprise visit from me, it's been a tough week for him (and our whole fam) because his sister passed away. I thought traveling 3,000 miles to say "I love you" and being there would be the best gift I could give him. And he deserves it.

My boys and I made an adorable picture card that will probably be his favourite part of the gift-I love that my hubby is sentimental! We also got him some bike gear to make his ride to work a little easier. No gift could ever really show him how much I appreciate him so the day will also be filled with lots of little ways to say we love you and are so thankful that you're such an amazing Dad!

I'm giving Dad a gift card to his local hardware store. This way, he can buy the hundreds of screws/washers/bolts/nuts/etc. that he insists he needs. Plus, we all are showing up to grill a fabulous lunch for him.

I'd been racking my brain for a gift and then my husband told me he wanted to cook dinner together as his present. We love cooking but recently had a baby so we aren't getting to do that as much as we used to. Sometimes the simplest gifts are the sweetest! Looking forward to dinner tonight.

We made him breakfast in bed. He's been really having a rough week so we thought today we'd give him a relaxing day where he doesn't have to do a thing. It made him happy. I think Dads really love the simple things.

My 9, 7, and 3yr old are making their daddy dinner all on their own. Which I think is pretty special. They are pretty excited.

ps My husband decided to but himself a father's day gift of a 60" TV. Nothin' like buying your own present... At least I know he likes it :)

We made my husband a card with a photo of both of my boys wearing matching "My Dad is Rad" shirts. It was the first time our newborn smiled in a picture, he must have known it was for Daddy! I've never seen my husband happier!
