haircut!

Tessa has been asking to cut her hair for over a year... so sunday I finally caved. I got tears in my eyes when it was done, but she absolutely LOVES her new do! She wanted it straightened, flipped out and with a clippie. She was so excited to go to school on monday, she thought her friends would all think she was a "new girl"!

Then we walked to the coffee shop for hot chocolate and did some shopping, fun girl time :)

Tessa was extremely excited about going to school and having homework.



I love that she mixes up her d's and b's.
That she makes w's twice as long as they should be.
She has a tough time keeping her lowercase letters under those dotted lines on the paper.
She loves to read.
And she always has funny stories to tell me about her day... totally different from the boys!



After homework tonight we had a "when I grow up I wanna..." talk, and she said she wants to make jewelry with me so that we will spend our "whole days together". Melts my heart... and so she got an extra cookie for dessert :)

the redhots.

I played soccer from 3rd grade all the way through college. In high school I played competetively on a classic club team that traveled all over the US and went to lots of big tournaments like WAGGS and the Dallas Cup, we won State every year, and my senior year we even won Regionals and went on to Nationals- only 4 teams in the US in each age group make it to Nationals. Then I got a scholarship to play in college.

So soccer is kind of a big deal to me :)

Well, Tessa is ready to play. And I get to coach her team.



My very first team (23 years ago!) was called the Redhots... so out of sentiment, we named her team the Redhots :)

She has scored 3 goals in both of her games so far.

I'm SUPER excited as I have been wanting a wristlet for MONTHS! I don't like having my camera strap wrapped around my neck when shooting pictures sometimes, so this wristlet will be perfect :)

I'd like you to meet my personal assistant...



A few of you have already met her on the phone- seems you called while she was playing with my phone and she answered. Without me knowing. Several times.



I know because I see your numbers in my call log... (and because one of you has already emailed to tell me which is how I realized it was going on in the first place). And now I am too embarrassed to call you back after making you listen to baby babble. Or maybe just her breathing. Or possibly her punching numbers.



Please don't hesitate to call us back, I promise to be more aware of her customer service :)

He opened up his arms for a hug and she came running. He pulled her up onto his lap and started to read her a book. She sat still and listened close to every word, pointing at pictures and adding a few babbles here and there.

It was such a sweet moment, one of those moments you wish you could freeze forever!

a good friend...

... is someone who, despite their own busy-ness, surprises you by bringing over dinner for you and your 4 kids when you are swamped with jewelry orders and your husband is out of town on a business trip.

labor day weekend = work

Most Labor Days we spend at the lake... this one was spent working allllll weekend! We have been incredibly busy with orders, which is great! We worked 16 hours saturday- I am sooooo thankful for my friends that help me, our business couldn't keep growing without them. Plus we get to have some interesting conversations while we work ;)

I'm also thankful for a husband that lets me sleep in all weekend when I'm working such late nights :D
